Join us for a two-day screening programme featuring two collective omnibus films made by Film.Factory students—one emerging from Sarajevo and the other created during the Covid-19 pandemic as letters to Béla Tarr and to the world.
Both films are personal, handmade diary films, inspired by Godard’s tradition of personal storytelling. They have travelled to various film festivals and, as the filmmakers describe them, Béla Tarr loved them both. Together, they reflect the spirit of Film.Factory as a “family of lost filmmakers.”

Synopsis: LOST IN BOSNIA is a cinematic poem to filmmaking and film itself. Directed by 11 filmmakers, all under the vision of Béla Tarr’s ‘film.factory’, delving into what keeps us making films.
Eleven filmmakers began an eleven-week experiment with 6 rules: The film must be shot on a small electronic device; the filmmaker must hold the device at all times; the film must contain one line of voice-over from the filmmaker; the film must be shot and edited in one week; the film must not be in black and white; and, the filmmaker is free.
Aligned with the film.factory spirit, the experiment urged filmmakers to keep telling personal stories. Given a particular theme that spoke about filmmaking, and armed with a small recording device, the filmmakers went out to explore the essential question: why do we keep making films?
LETTERS FROM THE ENDS OF THE WORLD

Director: Ghazi Alqudcy, Graeme Cole, Gonzalo Escobar Mora, Grant Gulczynski, Marta Hernaiz Pidal, Namsuk Kim, Bianca Lucas, Stefan Malesevic, Patrick Marshall, Aleksandra Niemczyk, Pilar Palomero, Emma Rozanski, Gustavo Vega
Year: 2021
Runtime: 74 minutes
Time: Sunday, 04 October 2026 | 7:00 PM
Synopsis: A world in lockdown. As a global pandemic unfolds, 13 international filmmakers pen cinematic letters from their places of isolation, whether home or far from home. A work of accidental science-fiction from the Bistrik7 collective, graduates of Béla Tarr’s Sarajevo film.factory.
The Rules of the Game were:
Films must be no shorter than 3, and no longer than 10 minutes. Films must be made where you are currently quarantining, and contain at least two shots from your place of isolation. Films must be addressed to a single entity, be it real or imagined. It is up to you to determine what a film letter can be. Emotional veracity is everything. Rules are made to be broken.
The screening will be followed by a video lecture by a former Film.Factory student, now a film teacher and theorist who writes on cinema and runs an online film school inspired by the spirit of Film.Factory.
The omnibus film was executive produced by Béla Tarr.
