Workshop overview:

Documentary Research & Proposal Writing is a practical workshop on how to develop a documentary idea through research and clear writing before production begins. This workshop focuses on the connection between idea development and the Core Application process, from writing a strong logline and film summary to defining artistic approach, structure, impact and target audience. Participants will explore research methods and understand how writing continues through development, production, editing, and impact stages. Throughout this workshop, participants will work toward a well developed documentary concept and a structured proposal draft ready for further development and funding applications.

Workshop Programme:

Participants attend sessions every Friday and Saturday. Between sessions, they are expected to work independently on research, writing assignments, and proposal development. Each class builds toward a structured Core Application draft. Before the workshop begins, selected participants are required to submit a short concept note including a brief story idea or vision and description of key participants or characters. During the workshop, participants develop their logline, topic summary, film summary, artistic approach, and impact framing through guided writing exercises and group discussions.
